The Pennsylvania County GIS Resource, Viewer, and Landing Page layer is dedicated to cataloguing the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's GIS County level resources. This layer was updated last on 19 of Aug 2021.
The purpose of this effort was to create a comprehensive and easy accessible resource to reach all of Pennsylvania Counties' GIS data. It's common for end-users to stumble to find resources for GIS for their given county or neighboring counties. This effort is to assist in avoiding that problem.
Carbon County GIS looked for 3 key items for cataloguing. GIS landing pages, Hub-Sites, and "Viewers". Most counties have one or more of these items.
There was also a concerted focus on Parcel Viewership. Counties were given 3 different designations:
1. GIS Services & Parcel Mapping Enabled - simply a GIS landing page or similar was present, and there was access online to interactive Parcel mapping
2. GIS Services Only - indicates a County that has a landing page, with helpful information and perhaps how to acquire detailed information, but does not have interactive mapping, esp. Parcel mapping
3. No GIS Services Enable - is a county, where there is no GIS landing page or a very limited GIS landing page. Where landing pages are present, there is only very brief descriptions that more or less explain what GIS is or how it functions in that County |
